At GIMS we are committed to your child’s health and welfare. A healthy, well-balanced diet is essential for every child’s emotional and physical well-being and academic success, and we are here to support your family in meeting your child’s nutritional needs.
We serve fresh, wholesome, nutritious, homemade food, with an abundance of plant-based produce and small contributions of foods of animal origin, combined in recipes that reflect our Spanish and international community.
Organic vegetables are utilized from our GIMS garden and we source local ingredients that are in season wherever possible.
The quantity and quality of protein is calculated for each meal to practically cover all the daily needs of boys and girls aged between 3 and 11 years old.
Protein is included every day in the form of either legumes, dairy, whole grains, nuts, seeds or meat protein. Fish or meat protein is included at least once a week, usually on Wednesdays.
None of the meals prepared contain added trans fats, flavour enhancers or processed sugar.
Wholemeal products are included in the menu wherever possible, specifically rice, the majority of pasta and bread.
Salads are given prominence so that children see the importance of raw vegetables, different colours and textures.
Internationally ‘inspired’ dishes are featured on the menu to encourage children to experience new flavours and reflect the growing diversity of our community.
We would like to continue to expand the school menu and would love to know if you have recipes for particular dishes that you think the children would enjoy. The criteria for a successful GIMS dish are:
1. Is it healthy and full of nutrients for growing children?
2. Can your recipe be made in under 3 hours and in a very small kitchen for about 60 children?
3. Does your child love eating it?
If the answer is yes, please send your recipe to the school administrator.
We look forward to supporting you with your child’s health, well-being and development!
