At GIMS, food is part of how we care for children. Our lunches are cooked every day in our own school kitchen: fresh, homemade, and built around vegetables. A healthy, well-balanced diet matters for children’s emotional and physical wellbeing, and for how they learn, and we’re here to meyour child’s nutritional needs.
Our recipes reflect our Spanish and international community, with plenty of plant-based produce and small amounts of food of animal origin.
Many of our vegetables come from the school garden, where the children grow them, and we use local, seasonal ingredients wherever possible.
Each meal includes protein from legumes, dairy, whole grains, nuts, seeds or meat, and we plan quantity and quality to meet the daily needs of children aged 3 to 12. Fish or meat appears at least once a week, usually on Wednesdays. Wholegrain where possible. We use wholemeal rice, most of our pasta, and wholemeal bread.
We add no trans fats, flavour enhancers or processed sugar to our meals. Salads take centre stage, so children see the value of raw vegetables, and of different colours and textures.
Internationally inspired dishes invite children to try new things and reflect the diversity of our community.Salads take centre stage, so children see the value of raw vegetables, and of different colours and textures.
We’d like to keep growing our menu, and we’d love to hear about dishes your child enjoys. A good GIMS recipe is healthy and full of nutrients for growing children, can be prepared in our school kitchen, and is something your child loves to eat. If that sounds like yours, send it to: admin@montessorischoolgranada.com
We look forward to supporting your child’s health, wellbeing and development!
